The BEST WESTERN Broadfield Park Hotel in Rochdale is slightly of the beaten track but a grwat place to hold your event. The venue is a 8th-century redbrick building located in the centre of Rochdale and almost instant walking distance from behind Rochdale Town Hall. It's a wedding venue which I really enjoy working, the staff are fantastic and it’s very easy ground floor access for bands and DJ's, which means I can roll the heavy bass bins and larger equipment without breaking my back. The picture shown above shows the main function room. The up-lighting was also supplied my me.

Most wedding venues already have a PA and microphone that can be used, predominantly, Brides and Grooms are usually more concerned about background music and don’t feel they need a microphone, but it’s easy to overlook the fact that people absorb sound and children are rarely behaved when it comes to being quiet on your big day speeches. Therefore, I highly recommend having the PA system ready to use, even if you don’t think you will need it, ask the venue to have it ready if they have a PA, just in case you change your mind. Projecting ones voice to the back of the room, especially over the occasional distraction from children often proves fruitless and leaves the guest at the back of the room struggling to hear every carefully thought out word that is spoken on the day. As regards to background music, some venues will already have some music to play or invite you to bring your own CD, or if the venue is well prepared, they may even have the facilities to plug in your iPad. Some people will choose to bring their own stereo If there is no PA system available at the venue, but in a large room full of people, the acoustics will not be very good and music will not be projected very well, plus most home stereos do not have the option to plug in a microphone
There is off course a perfect way to play background music and project the human voice evenly throughput the room with impressive sound quality, and that is to hire a professional PA and music system. Our PA system is extremely adaptable and can even be setup to distribute surround sound in awkward shaped rooms, for example ‘L’ shaped rooms, or even have sound in more than one room at the same time f your venue is full to capacity and not everyone can fit into the main room where the all important speeches will be held, not to mention the various announcements throughout the day. As regards to the music, our system comes with wedding breakfast music to suit, every song has been carefully selected and comes pre-installed and ready to play through our digital media player, no skipping CD’s, or windows updates and reboots to worry about. However, if you prefer to play a CD, the system has that facility too. Songs can be loaded using SD card or USB stick if you prefer to bring your own music, but we have the music covered to help make your day run perfect. The PA is also setup so that a simply flick of a switch will enable the microphone which comes complete with it’s own stand. The system is simple to use, but we can arrange to have someone control it for you at the key announcements if you prefer For ceremony PA hire, we have a white DJ Booth and use a wireless speaker system which has proved very useful when compared the traditional wired system. It has helped us avoid placing speakers where they may obstruct the registrar, vicar or photographer and even enabled us to place speakers where normally it would have been impractical Before we started using the wireless system, we was presented with all kinds of issues, for example, the use of duck tape is not allowed in listed buildings, time to setup often takes up a great deal of time when cable is involved, or issues with hazards creation by trailing audio cables across busy walkways. Our wireless speaker system saves lots of time and avoids all the above-mentioned issues. Our 5ft L O V E letters for weddings, engagements or anniversaries are ideal for creative photography or simply adding some extra pizzazz and elegance to your special day or celebration. Our LOVE letters have dimmable lights which is ideal for setting the scene for those all-important pictures. The dimming feature is also ideal if the letters are next to a star lit dance floor or other lighting effect and the letters are overpowering the LED;s in the floor or lighting fixture. For no extra cost, we are also happy to supply some up lighting behind the letters to add even more elegance to this wonderful effect, simply ask us to provide this extra free service and let us know the choice of your colour preferred. A Discount on hiring the LOVE letters is available when booked with disco and/or room mood lighting. This particular picture was taken in the Fisherman’s retreat which is one of my favorite wedding venues
One of the biggest worries for most couples getting married is booking the right DJ. it could be very advantageous to view this video, It contains invaluable information which may not have even crossed your mind. This information may help you with deciding which DJ to book for your big day, party or corporate event and ultimately give you peace of mind.
My Job takes me to so many places and I get to meet so many great people and be part of their big day. I’ve had a great summer this year and perhaps the only thing missing was a little more sunshine. Throughout the years, there have been certain venues that always stand out to me as being an absolute pleasure to work in, and Colshaw Hall in Cheshire is definitely one of them. Not only is the setting, venue,, food and staff amazing, it’s also a DJ’s dream to work in, especially in summer. The venue boasts air-conditioning, which is ideal when moving very heavy equipment around and it’s extremely easy access too. The only slightly down side is the acoustics if your DJ is not using a premium sound system. Sub bass bins and perhaps up to 4 additional midrange speakers strategically positioned to produce a nice balanced sound is definitely recommended. I have played at this venue on a number of occasions and there’s plenty of space for dancers to move their groove and throw some serious shapes.
To find out more about this venue, simply visit their website http://www.colshawhall.com/ Wimberry Hill Farm was a slightly unusual venue as it's a combination of a garden centre and wedding venue. It’s a Very nice venue and as always, a great night. From a DJ’s point of view, this venue had the extra bonus of very easy access, and a curtain separating the wedding party, so setup times was not really an issue. The staff was fantastic and even offered to help me carry the equipment in, but being the trooper I am, I declined their kind offer.
Fridays wedding was at Addington Hall, I have been on a small journey with this couple, Dave (The Groom) asked his good lady to marry him at his 50th Birthday party back in April 2014 where I had the pleasure of being his DJ, naturally, she said YES!....and Friday the 3rd of June 2015 they got married, great night, great venue, great people, happy days!
I recently blogged about how amazing an unusual choice of blue up-lighting looked at the Fisherman’s retreat, Apart from the blue theme, I really think the traditional and popular choices of pink and purple also look fantastic. As shown in this example of up lighting I provided at the broadfield hotel in Rochdale
I often work along side some fabulous and entertaining musicians and singers during the evening reception at weddings, but I’ve recently started to take note of the extra special touches that add nostalgia and magic to the wedding breakfast. I recently met a harpist that most definitely presented an authentic traditional summers wedding atmosphere for the guest arrival. Playing a mix of classical and very modern compositions, Alis the Harpist is highly recommended and I would be happy to pass on her details if you would like her services for your special day I have purchased another microphone, known as the vintage 'Elvis' Microphone, it's going to be ideal for wedding breakfast speeches, it will look pretty nice on photographs too. I just hope it doesn't encourage wanna be xFaxtor singers as these vintage looking mics scream out "sing!"
