Mottram Hall is a typical spa type hotel and wedding venue with a golf course. It has a selection of conference and function rooms and the staff are very attentive to their clients. On a slightly separate note, and without singling out any particular venue, beware of booking any venue for your wedding or party if guest’s rooms are fairly near the function room. Whilst I always aim to keep the volume at a nice level, and use a high definition sound system, maintaining a reasonable volume can be essential to creating a great atmosphere on the dance floor. Management of some hotels can often keep on top of the DJ regarding the volume to a point where it can ruin the atmosphere be insisting on very low volumes. I don’t really like to make negative comments, but I feel that the volume issue can often be conveniently not mentioned to clients when they are taking a booking for what is one is one of the most important days of their lives. My advise to anyone looking at wedding venues is to ask if there would be any issues with volume, also ask if there is a sound limiter as there is no point in the DJ or band bringing in bass bins. Sound limiters are extra sensitive to bass bins, so it’s best to use simple mid range speaker system under these circumstances to maintain a reasonable volume without the sound limiter cutting the power to the band or DJ.
